81st Academy Awards

The Biggest Movie Event of the Year, The Oscars was held on Sunday, February 22, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
Hugh Jackman hosted the 81st Academy Awards telecast. This was his first time center stage at Oscar show.

The blue-hued stage, framed by a glittering 92,000-Swarovski-crystal curtain was so beautiful and it was a wonderful sight for me and I think for many people who watched the show.

Former Oscar winners presented the winners of main category this year.
The best actress award went to Kate Winslet for "The Reader". To our big surprise Sean Penn won the best actor for performance in "Milk". This is his 2nd Oscar.
The winner of best supporting actress is Penélope Cruz for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona".
Heath Ledger won the best supporting actor as Joker in "The Dark Knight" posthumously. His family received the award instead of him.
It was a rich night for "Slumdog Millionaire". The movie won 8 awards - for example Best Picture or Best Director.

Naturally the celebrities wore beautiful clothes as always. These are my favourite dresses:

Penélope Cruz, the winner of best supporting actress, wore a wonderful 60-years-old Pierre Balmain dress. I really like Taraji P. Henson's white tiered gown by Cavalli.

Angelina Jolie looks simple but so chic in her black dress by Elie Saab. Kate Winslet, who won Best Actress Award, has a great grey-black Yves Saint Laurent gown.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Carrie Bradshaw of "Sex and the City", in a Dior dress and Anne Hathaway, the nominee of Best Actress, in a nice Armani gown.

Natalie Portman in a bubble gum pink gown by Rodarte and Alicia Keys in a lilac Armani dress.

Vanessa Hudgens from "High School Musical" in a Marchesa dress and Beyonce in a black-gold gown.

And I don't really like these outfits:

In my opinion the outfits of Tilda Swinton and Whoopi Goldberg were terrible. I don't know but I expected an Academy Award winning actress more...

Oscar speciality

Meryl Streep has a record. She has the most nomination, no less than 15. I hope the Dame of Hollywood will get her 3rd Academy Awards soon!
